4 intense months – 16 motivated startups – 1 goal. The time has come for our recent Go Grow and DGP startups to grow out of Go Grow and to finally graduate after 4 months of intense learning, networking, developing and re-thinking.
Building for international scale
The last four months have been no sugar-licking (even though we did have a lot of cake) and our 16 primarily early stage, pre-seed startups had to critically rethink their business model – some even to the point of changing essential parts of their business or retesting major hypotheses.
The journey started in November 2017 with over 45 received submissions, 25 pre-selected companies and finally: 16 selected Go Grow and DGP companies:
Byland Studio– livability, climate change adaption, greening in urban settings and first and foremost innovation.
Hooves– brings horses into the sharing economy.
JAGDER – digital marketplace that connects hunters and landowners.
Krizo – the mobile platform for efficient crisis management.
NoviPel – offering the worlds first pelvic floor visualizer
Ocatvic– real-time process improvement to reach your targets faster.
Operator – provides improvements for manufacturing companies, including OEE and MES solutions.
PurCity– purifying the Air in Cities.
Ticketbutler – the online ticketing platform tailor-made to fit your brand.
ToGoTryk– bespoke to go packaging with a low minimum order quantity.
YES CPH CO.– a social-economic service company offering affordable facility service for businesses while simultaneously ensuring adequate working environments and fair living wages for newcomers in Denmark.
The following months were then dedicated to specific topics and included workshops and clusters on Customer Development, B2C and B2B Sales, Online Marketing, Legal as well as Investment considerations and more. All workshops were accompanied by continuous group and one-on-one Pitch Training to complete the picture and strengthen the startups not only internally but as well in their external communication to all kinds of stakeholders.
As a highlight of the program we went to visit Berlin to experience the German Startup Scene and establish first contacts and ideas on how to expand to Germany (if you want to know more about this exciting trip you might want to check out this blog).
After having had these four months of intense training, learning and growing, we finally celebrated the startup’s accomplishments on the Go Grow Demo Day last week. The startup companies pitched and networked for an audience of 130 people including a critical jury, interested investors, mentors, possible future partners and employees and many more.
The startups pitched in front of the critical eyes of our very experienced jury members Yusufa, Managing Partner at IPO Capital A/S and alumni from Go Grow, Anette Nørgaard, Program Manager, Bizspark – Startups, Microsoft and the author of Business Model Generation, and Søren Ammundsen, Business Accelerator and Investment Manager at Accelerace – and some got rewarded even above graduating by receiving jury as well as audience awards on top of crucial contacts.
Having an investor come up to you after having seen you pitch and saying „OK – let’s do it!“ – That’s just awesome. Alexander Hennings, Founder & CEO NoviPel
The Award from IPO Capital, a 2 hour working lunch with IPO Capital where the business goals for the next 6 months can be refined, went to YES CPH CO.
The award form Accelerace, a half day business coaching with the Accelerace team, went to NoviPel.
The award from Microsoft, a lunch with Anette Nørgaard – to scope how to work with corporates and look into possibilities, went to OfficeHub.
The Audience award for the best pitch went to Hooves.
All of our 12 startups managed more than well and we are proud to call them Go Grow and DGP graduates. Congratulations to all our graduated startups – we are sure and excited to hear a lot more from you not only in Denmark but around the globe. So go out there and go grow even further!
Also, we were happy to have Emil Pfeiffer Stenbøj, Co-founder of Krizo, as a valedictorian speaker from the Batch and Esmir Ibricic, Co-founder of Vizgu, from Batch 4, returning to give the Alumni speech.
